Epson 18 ink cartridges come in two varieties; the standard capacity and the ‘XL’ high capacity, but what’s the difference?

Despite the name, both the Epson Daisy 18 and the 18XL cartridges have exactly the same external dimensions. The key difference between the two is the amount of ink which is contained within, and therefore, the number of pages which can be printed before changing each cartridge.

The standard capacity Epson Daisy T18 black cartridge contains 5ml of ink, giving an approximate yield of 175 pages.

The high capacity Epson T18XL black cartridge contains 11ml of ink, which give a page yield of approximately 470 pages.

The same is also true of each of the cyan, magenta and yellow Epson 18 ink cartridges.

Will Epson 18XL cartridges fit my printer?

This is a common question, as the name of the cartridge implies that it will be physically bigger than a standard ink cartridge.

In fact, a 18XL cartridge will fit any printer that takes the standard capacity cartridges. So, if you usually use Epson 18 ink cartridges, then you can also use the 18XL variety with out issue.
